21 Nov-The Jewish Manifestival

On November 21, Oy Vey will launch the Jewish Manifesto into the world with a Manifestival in Amsterdam. We’ll have music, performances from some of the Netherlands most exciting Jewish writers, a spoken word artist, and more. We’d love to see you there!

“Nothing is as liberating as joy. It frees the mind and fills it with tranquility.” – Rabbi Nachman of Breslov

For over two years, the dedicated team at Oy Vey has engaged in heartfelt conversations with Jews across the country to develop the Jewish Manifesto – a powerful declaration of our hopes, fears, and dreams. Now, we will celebrate this achievement with a joy-filled festival, launching the manifesto into the world on November 21.

The Jewish community is alive! And we’re celebrating that – with you – with the launch of the Jewish Manifesto during the vibrant Jewish Manifestival on November 21 in the Uilenburgersjoel in Amsterdam. Zay bagrist!

What can you expect?

Together with you, we are creating an unforgettable joyful day, where we will share the Jewish Manifesto in an interactive way. Imagine: a joyful day with an artistic program for all ages. Music, poets, a wishing wall, dialogues, games, delicious food, and much more.

Source of inspiration

For over two years, the Oy Vey Amsterdam team has had deep conversations with Jews in the Netherlands to develop the Jewish Manifesto – a collection of our thoughts on hopes, fears, and dreams. It’s a source of inspiration for generations to come. What does it mean to be Jewish in the Netherlands? What makes you feel Jewish? How do we feel connected to Israel, or perhaps not?

Curious?

A series of conversations on various topics such as identity, culture, homeland, diaspora, family, humor, and more led us to the Jewish Manifesto. Curious? On Thursday evening, November 21, starting at 7:00 PM, we’ll present the Jewish Manifesto to the world with the Jewish Manifestival. By and for Jewish Amsterdammers of all backgrounds and ages.

Am I Jewish enough to participate?

(The answer is probably yes)

  • I’m not religious… (Jewish enough)
  • I don’t know any other Jews… (Jewish enough)
  • I have a Jewish father or one Jewish grandparent (Jewish enough)
  • I’m a convert to Judaism… (Jewish enough)
  • I know nothing about Jewish stuff… (Jewish enough)
  • I had a BLT sandwich for lunch… (Jewish enough)
  • My specific concern is not on this list and I am super anxious about it!!!

Mazal tov! probably nobody’s more Jewish
